In Assignment # 6 we had to read up on a African Canadian. The person I choose to write about is Measha Brueggergosman. Measha is an Canadian soprano and opera singer, born on June, 28 1977 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. When she was a young girl she sang in her Church choir. When she was a young teen she took voice lessons to improve her voice. When she learned to train her voice she studied with a New Brunswick soprano singer Wendy Nielson. After the one year with Wendy she moved on and studied at the University of Toronto, where she go B. mus. Shortly after that at the age of 20 she played the lead role in the Opera Beatrice Chancy
(by: James Rolfe). The opera and Measha both got great reviews, for the great performance. Shortly after Mrs. Bruggengosman played the lead role in Opera Beatrice Chancy, she performed with Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Center. Measha has performed in many different opera's such as: the Cincinnati Opera, the Verdi Requiem with Sir Andrew Davis and the Toronto Symphony, the International Beethoven Festival etc...
She was awarded the Grand Prize at the Jeunesses Musicales International Compation
Montreal in Montreal in 2002.
